Hi Guys, I am in need of some advice, I joined easywarm about 3 years ago when they were accepting over 50s, my payments were around £40 per month, now they are an extortionate £125 per month, which I am struggling to pay, I am disabled and lost my wife last march, so I now only recieve single benifits which is a great deal of differrence from a couples benifits, I have phoned swalec several times to see if I can get any reduction, as I live on my own in a two bedroom bungalow, but each time I ring they tell me I will be much worse off if I come off easywarm and back on the standard tarrif, but by chance I bumped into a rep for swalec, who told me I should get off the easywarm tarriff asap, so now I am even more confused, I have tried checking sites like u-switch, but the easywarm tarriff isnt listed for me to make any comparrisons, hope someone knows something to help, thanks

You can use the comparison sites, just put in your Kwh usage, doesnt matter what you put in as your tariff (just select standard) then when you get to the results page ignore the savings amounts and look at the expected annual spend, take the expected annual spend away from your current annual spend (£125 X 12) and there are your savings.

When I say expected annual spend, thats for the new suppliers in the list.

That may or may not be true, but note they compare it to their standard tariff, which is probably the most expensive they generally offer. There are lots of cheaper options available.

You are right to try and compare usage using comparison sites. You won't find staywarm/easywarm on them because they are not based on usage - they are a true fixed price tariff in that what is agreed at the beginning of the year is what you pay irrespective of usage.

However, you should be able to get the annual consumption figures in kWh from your supplier and input those into a comparison site. Pick any current supplier/tariff and ignore the declared savings. Just look for the cheapest option and compare that to the price it will cost you on easywarm (12 x your monthly payment)

However, be aware that on a different tariff, you will have to pay for what you use so the cost may be higher or lower than suggested based on what you actually consume (unlike with easywarm)

Bare in mind this guy was probably trying to get some form of comission out of you, take anything a rep says from any company with a bucket of salt (esp. Scottish & Southern reps)
