Double glazing

I'm looking to replace the double glazing on my house all together around 17 windows and 2 french doors. I'm not looking forward to the hard sell that I'm anticipating.

I'm looking for any help on what I should be expecting to pay and any recommendations on double glazing companies (both national and local in the South Oxfordshire/Bucks area). I'm a good haggler and would like some targets to aim for.

Thanks

And i thought my 15 was bad :(

I have cautiously spoken to a local supplier or two been advised to budget approx £500 per window which i guess is a good place to start. BTW i am in South Bucks.

I will get around to getting proper quotes as soon as i get the time.

Right when anyone comes round sit them down and say this.

I dont want any of the sales spiel, or the "I'll phone my boss to check this weeks best discount" or any of the other crap. What I want you to do is treat me like an adult and one who's not stupid, because believe me if you start you'll be going out of the door and will definately lose the sale. I want to here one price.......... your lowest.

Along them lines anyway....and if they do start kick 'em out.

Well, I got a front door, french doors, and 5 windows done for under 3 grand, if that helps. 2 good companies in that area are 3D in Eynsham (http://www.3daluminiumplas.co.uk/), and Andy Glass in Abingdon.

Apart from that, I can only echo the advice of nelly, and suggest avoiding Regal and Anglian - they're masters of the "book today and get 5 grand off the price".

Don't haggle. Tell them they have one chance and one chance only. Save yourself a lot of time.
  • davepin ,

If you`re confident enough then by far the cheapest option is to buy your own windows and have a local joiner fit them . I`ve just supplied 20 windows and 3 doorsets in mahogany Upvc to a customer for £4100 + VAT .
A local joiner fitted them all within a week and finished off insides for £1500.

    Windows from http://www.sashuk.com/company.html

and can be purchased from any supplier at http://www.nationalbuyinggroup.com/

    Hope this helps
