Royal Ascot is a unique event in the summer social calendar, steeped in tradition, heritage and pageantry dating back almost 250 years. If you’ve always wanted to dress up and have a flutter at the greatest race meeting in the world, then here is your chance. One lucky hello! reader and a friend will win an exclusive day at the races on Thursday 17 June – Ascot’s famous Ladies’ Day – including full hospitality, followed by a luxurious overnight stay at Cliveden, once the glittering hub of society as the home of Waldorf and Nancy Astor. Whether you are into watching world-class racing, fine dining, seeing the latest in fashion or relaxing in grand style, this prize has it all. On the Thursday morning, you and your friend will arrive at Cliveden – whose famous (or infamous) guests have included Charlie Chaplin, Winston Churchill, John Profumo and Christine Keeler. You will travel by luxury car to Royal Ascot for a five-course lunch in the Bessborough Restaurant, from where you’ll have a panoramic view of the racecourse and Windsor Great Park. While lunching, you’ll get the chance to view collections by top fashion designers including Vivienne Westwood, Matthew Williamson, Amanda Wakeley, milliner Stephen Jones and menswear label Gieves & Hawkes at the Royal Ascot Fashion Show, which has become one of the highlights of the meeting. Racing starts after the royal procession enters the course at 2pm; complimentary drinks including champagne will be available all day, and a traditional afternoon tea will be served, too.
