as others have said, most oil companies only take payment on delivery, as your tank could only have room for less than what you've ordered, and you wouldn't be happy with them charging you for oil you've not received.
in which case 2 days is pretty standard for a debit card payment to come out.
also, not buying the "i then thort they must have taken the money and as i made alot of payment to things i decided i must of just missed it on the statement" part. home heating oil deliveries are expensive things, not the sort of money you just miscalculate on your bill. surely you wondered why you had a couple of hundred more than you had paid out available?0
