Bridesmaid Dress Dilema

hellokitty08 wrote: »Hello,
I am still having a bridesmaid dress deliema. We need three adult dresses two size 10 and one size 22. We are looking for light colours, so dusty rose or light green (maybe olvie green) maybe even yellow. The problem is we need something thats going to suit two very different body shapes. I was going to go to Birmigham with the bride to choose them, but I dont think its going to be worth it now.
Wedding is in September 2010, and we can drive upto 1-1/2 away from Northampton, so as far North as Derby, Nottingham, Birmingham and as far south as London. I just want to be able to go some where that we will have a good chance of finding something, only option so far is this, http://www.bhs.co.uk/mall/productpage.cfm/bhsstore/877456/230300 but 10 is out of stock online.
Please, please, please help me, as I have spent about 40 hours searching the internet. Any help would be great. Budget is £120 a dress tops.
Hiya,
I went into BHS on Oxford St today and they didn't have any size 10s, however they did have at least 2 size 22's and lots of size 12's. I noticed that the dresses actually come with detachable straps so maybe one size up may not be so bad? Also, as the dresses are only 50pounds, you can spend up to 70 pounds on tailoring and still be better off!
I also looked at the brown ones and they didnt have size 10 either - and white ones I didnt look as the bride probably wont appreciate white dresses!
Hope that helps
P.S I noticed that BHS often has 20% storewide sales - def keep your eye out for a bargain on the dresses!0 -
Hi, I read that you have a dilema about the dresses in BHS. If I could find two sizes 10 would this help you at all. Let me know ASAP. Marie0

What about this? http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_008010214306_-1?breadcrumb=Home~Women~Dresses
It says the 22 is out of stock but the stores will ring round to find one for you.
I hope you fine something you like, Good luck xAll comments and advice given is my own opinion and does not represent the views or advice of any debt advice organisation.

Ahh thanks very much ladies for all of your help. I am going to see the bride tonight so I am going to suggest that we get to BHS as soon as possible. Although I work 6 days a week and no where near a BHS, wondering if I can manage a work related trip near one soon?
I cant believe all the kind offers of searching for sizes 10's. I hear the point loud and clear about having them altered when they are only £50, thats very true. I may be taking you up on them offers soon.
I am going to get me to a BHS as soon as possible, although that might be Sunday, however I may take the opportunity to hit Milton Keynes.
The Debenhams one is a good choice too, but £30 more then the BHS one.Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0 -
Ohhh I was so close to getting my bride to order some dresses online yesterday. We spent about two hours looking. The Bride had decided to order this for the two skinney bridesmaids,

But she didnt realise they were out of stock! Argh. Still we are going to try the Coast store in Milton Keynes on Friday and BHS as well.
She also wondered what the chances would be to dye this,

I would start looking at what will suit the size 22 bridesmaid and what will suit her. Thinking of the photographs and videos that will be there for posterity darker colours can be more flattering on the larger figure. I think the size 22 lady should try dresses and have her photograph taken in the different styles, if the shop allow it Lucky old size 10s usually look good in anything. Look at the size 22 dresses that the lady already has and feels comfortable in as a guide for style.'You can't change the past, you can only change the future' Gary Boulet.

I'm having my bridesmaids dresses made by a local dressmaker as I had the same problem and I'm paying £80ish each so that might be something worth looking into? Assuming you don't want anything too complex detail wise it might work out cheaper and they'll fit everyone perfectly and designs can be adapted to flatter you all

This is a dusky pink, don't know if that would be any good for your larger lady?
Will have a hunt for smaller similar dresses.
ETA actually, at only £45 each, maybe these would be an option for the smaller ladies too, and there would be enough money in the budget for them to be made smaller? It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your window
