Hi money savers. Family are going to London soon and i'd like to take them for a special afternoon tea but not at RITZ prices! Anyone got any sensible suggestions of other more reasonably priced hotel/resturants that do something similar? Thanks.

We're going for a champagne tea at The Dorchester for £34.50 each, without champagne is £28.50. Friends who have been to both The Ritz and The Dorchester much preferred The Dorchester, and not just because it was cheaper!
Edited to add this website that has links to other establishments in London for afternoon tea.

I have been to both the Wolsey and the Dorchester.
The Wolsey is noisy and busy, but great fro atmosphere and morning coffee.
The Dorchester is lovely and as afternoon tea should be. I went back a second time for afternoon tea and Christmas Carols which was even better.
I don't think the Dorchester is cheap but it is an experience I would recommend -and it is much easier to get a booking than the Ritz which often has to be booked up months in advance.
At the Dorchester you get tea, lots of little sandwiches and plenty of cakes too. I have done it with champagne and without -both great.
Throughly recommend it!!
I would go again given half the chance!
