I could be reading things into this that just aren't there, but I've just received an email from Sony thanking me for registering my player. Thing is, I registered this at least 4 or 5 years ago.
Then around a minute or so after opening the email, I got a small pop up from the sys tray telling me it was installing the usb driver software. It then said it was searching for the correct driver but couldn't find one.
It this just coincidence/a glitch or might the email have caused the driver installation thing to start?
Pc is scanning with Malwarebyte at the minute but so far nothing is showing up.

Just got this email from Sony.
We would like to apologise for recently sending you emails entitled 'Help us at Sony to help you' and/or
'Peace of mind for your Sony product' regarding Sony product registration and/or an extended warranty
offer which is no longer available. We are aware that in the majority of cases, the information contained in these emails is both irrelevant and out of date and we would like to sincerely apologise for any concern and inconvenience that this may have caused you.
Unfortunately this was due to a system error, where old email surveys were sent out by our broadcasting agency. We would like to reassure you that this issue has now been fully resolved and that no further action is required on your part.
Once again, our apologies for the error on our part and any inconvenience it may have caused.
