Apple MacBook Unibody Cracked, Will Not Repair

well, bought a brand new apple macbook back in december 2009, and it has now developed two cracks from the hinges.
having looked on the apple forums, this seems to be a common problem with the macbook unibody that was released, and i aint the only one whos having a problem.
i took it into the apple store, and they told me as there is no CS Code for the problem, the repair is an out of warranty job, and that it would be £160 to repair it, for something that isnt my fault, i pointed the genius to the apple discussion forums where i showed him the thread of other people having the same problem but no ball?
what do i do now? im stuck with a £800 laptop with 2 massive cracks in it, i have began to lose faith in apple

You need to go back in to the Apple store and quote them the Sale of Goods Act
(That link points to the business link page for the rights of customers)
Don't let the fanboy/girl give you any jobsian no return rubbish!0 -
Mine cracked and I rang up the helpline explained the problem and the location and they told me the local dealer that could fix it for me and that as long as they agreed that they cracks were not my fault I wouldn't have to pay.2020 Mortgage-Free Wannabes #20 £1495.03/£2760 OP0

My Apple store was 3 hours away but they usually have a registered repairer somewhere - I would ring up Apple Support quote this page here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2948 and see what they say.2020 Mortgage-Free Wannabes #20 £1495.03/£2760 OP0 -
was yours the same??
did you need a CS code?0 -
Hi there, I have exactly the same problem, I take very good care of my laptop as it cost so much money and I saved my !!! off to buy it. In the last few days a crack has appeared in mine as well and I am going to have to take it to the Apple shop. From the looks of this thread though i'm not going to get a free repair0

No mine was along the front, it was a while back but think I was given a ref number by customer service which I then passed on to the repairers, if you phone up you can get it arranged to be sent away rather than travel.2020 Mortgage-Free Wannabes #20 £1495.03/£2760 OP0 -

im going to set a site up for this, we can post what stores do the repairs and how many they have done,

Try Manchester's Trafford Center Branch, they are brilliant. My old MB had the case crack fault (the original fault on the front of the case not the hinge fault in this case) I nipped in on the off chance and not only did they replace the case there and then they did it within half an hour because I needed the MB for uni.0
