I'd thought of that idea, but on the leg you would be screwing the angle brackets into less than 1cm of wood. And we're talking heavy table...
Drill through and use bolts and washers. You could even bend the washers to fit the shape of the leg better.

The weight issue is not vastly important, if the job's done properly, with the leg sitting on the underside of the table, then the weight still runs through the leg, the angle brackets stop it from moving sideways. Of course, you'll have a height problem to fix, so sandwiching in a bit of plywood/plank, planed down to the correct thickness could fix that.

Have been Googling and so far this is the nearest thing I can find (only is for metal legs and in the USA), but I'll keep looking.

My partner has a few contacts in the furniture trade but he's out all day today, will ask him tonight. Don't give up yet!

From Your piccies the joint/leg assembly are very similar to the one used by Kitchens Direct to support my breakfast bar I know they make metal legs eg chrome/brass effects they probably do wood effect ones too. I would not recommend them for installing (another story) but many Kitchen Design cos use similar fittings. Might be worth a try

    - these look very close to the original design and include the ' top connector - Ref: 63506025 ' all UK priced !

    - thistledome's link isn't just close but I would say near exact

    - Grahams also look the near enough exact.

Thanks to all the above posters for the ideas they have put forward and the efforts they have gone to! They are much appreciated.

Many of the links look very interesting, especially Thistledome's US one which seems to be almost an exact copy, and for wood!

I'll have to contact some of the suppliers and see what they say. Since we are aren't desperately concerned about keeping the leg (although it would/wood be nice), the chrome ones are a possibility, where it would be sensible to choose two, for stability.

John, looks like they are ' pattern ' parts for the same design. Looking at your pics it seems that if you keep your existing leg and buy a new top [ bottom image ] connector ( insert ) to replace the broken one inside your leg and a new rabbit ear socket [ top image ] it might well do the job - about £30 UK for both.

    # a pattern part is a deliberately minuscule difference, usually in size to get round a copyright issue. In this case a cheaper to make pressed steel version of the original cast alloy specification.

So much for partner, he's never seen one and hasn't got a clue!

Richie from the boro seems to have hit the nail on the head though :T

Best of luck with it OP.
