Hi, I don't have a deep fat fryer. Is it possible to make kentucky style chicken in the oven? If so how? I had a search through the threads but didn't see anything.

    Hi unixgirl,

It's possible to make chicken nuggets in the oven so although I haven't tried it, I think you could do the same with whole pieces of chicken.

This thread might help: chicken nuggets

Thanks Penelope, Pink-winged this is perfect. Would I need to precook the chicken legs?

I would cook them from raw, but I've never tried it with bone-in chicken pieces so can't be sure. Hopefully someone who has tried it before will come along soon.

ive done this type of chicken in the oven but it took alot of oil else the coating goes all goey and comes off.
the best way i tried was with a wok, half filled with oil, if your using drum sticks take the skin off and then coat them in the mix, maybe leave 10 mins then re coat them. then fry few pieces at a time, put in an oven tray to finish them off or to keep hot whilst other stuffs cooking :)

i made some the other day..they were delish! i simmered the drumsticks first in water to cook them then patted them dry, then dipped in beaten egg and then into the coating and then fried them in my wok. be careful as they do spit and fizzle when fried. do them in small batches of say 4 at a time then pop them in the oven on low on top of some kitchen paper to absorb the worst of the grease. my oh said they tasted better than kfc  :D :rotfl:
proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance! :p
