American express rewards gold card

Options
Hi,

Does anybody know which shops/retailers normally accepts the American express rewards gold card (charge card). I took this card because of the 20000 points offer: http://www.americanexpress.com/uk/gold/index.shtml?page=PR&PID=832&BUID=CCG&PSKU=VL&AFFID=GoogleGL&CRTV=2105&sourcecode=X80038GC02

I am supposed to get the 20000 points after spending £500 on the card but none of the major supermarkets & DIY shops seem to accept this card. Has anybody used this card before?

Looks like a standard Amex to me. Never had any problems getting my Amex accepted with the big guys - which major supermarkets and DIY shops have you tried that have refused it.

There's a whole sticky dedicated to it if you really want a full list :)

My Gold Card is accepted in all the supermarkets I use frequently (and that's the big four, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's and Morrisons) and pretty much every petrol station I use (certainly the local BP and Shell).

    Even Wetherspoons accepts Amex!

Yes, and if you have a Nectar card you get both sets of points and can transfer the Amex Rewards to Nectar if you're so minded.

I too have got an Amex Gold Card so I can get the 20000 points.

I've just received my first statement which includes the £95 annual fee. Does this £95 contribute to the £500 spend required over three months?
