E-Mail Name Help

Please can someone help me change the nickname (sender's name) which is displayed to the recipient on all the e-mails I send.

It shows up as Aunty S----, instead of my full name, which is fine for family messages but a bit embarassing for business related messages or other official contacts.

I use Windows Live Mail/Hotmail with a Hotmail address.

I have tried to find a way to change this on my Hotmail account details but I can't even find a record of it there , just my full name.

I hope someone can help me.:o

Why don't you just set up an alternative for business use? Quick and easy.:)

    From Mail page...

Options> More Options> View and Edit Personal Information> Registered Information> next to "Name" there is a "Change" link...

If that doesn't do it then I've no idea

    Hi AuntyS...
Sign in to your Windows Live Hotmail account.
In the upper-right corner of the page, click "Options."
Choose "More options..." on the dropdown menu.
Under "Manage your account," click "View and edit your personal information."
For security purposes, you need to re-type your password again.
Click the "Registered information" located below the "Birth date:" field.
Beside the display name of your account, click "Change."
Make the changes and then click on the "Save" button once you're finished.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help but unfortunately my display name shows as my full name there and not the Aunty S---- one so I have no idea how it got on my account in the first place. I only found out it was there when I got a reply from the managing director of a company with my original message shown and the from name was Aunty S----. Been trying to track it down and change it ever since.:o
Guess I'll just have to live with it - it's too much hassle to create a new address and work with different accounts.

Hi AuntyS, i'm really sorry to hear that you cant fix it, I dont know what else to suggest. May sound like a dumb thing to say, but are you SURE you "saved" the info?. I am always forgetting the silliest of details myself. I will dig about and try to see if I can find anything else that might solve it.
You never know though, being AuntyS to people might just brighten their day?... ;)

are you using outlook express/outlook/windows live mail etc to send these emails? if so check the account properties there.

does it display the correct display name if you use a web page to log in and send mails rather than outlook express/outlook/windows live mail (you can sent them to yourself to test)

I still can't find any way around this so I'll just be everyone's AuntyS.
    Thanks for all suggestions.

I had this problem with hotmail & I fixed it - it was so long ago I've forgotten how. I will look into it later. Can't get on hotmail now.

AuntyS, I was thinking about this problem again today so started to experiment.

    Open messenger and click Tools.
    In options, go to personal.
There should be a box that says "Display name" it asks you to type your name as you want others to see it, have a look what that says.. if that says "AuntyS" this could well be where the problem is.
I really hope this one helps!. :)

    I think I've fixed it :T
I opened my Windows Live Mail and clicked Tools on the top line, then selected Accounts and when I checked the properties for my mail account it had AuntyS---- in the name box (no idea how it got there). I have now changed it to my full name and it seems to be working OK. I hadn't looked at that section. I was trying to change it in my Hotmail account profile but it didn't even appear there which is why I was so confused. The display name there was correct.
As you can tell I'm not very tech minded.
    Thanks for all the help.
    AuntyS ;)
