M25 commute...how long?

Hi

I wonder if anyone has any advice for me please.

I have just been offered a new job which would mean a commute around the M25 from junction 9 to 14, then the M1 from junction 4b and off at junction 4.

Does anyone have any idea how long this will take me in the morning's? I would like to do a trial run before I accept but I'm not sure if it will be feasible on a week day.

If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

Couple of hours on a good day, I'd have thought.

    Unless you're travelling at 4am.

A couple of hours each way?? It's only 4 junctions!

There is another way I can go which is only 16 miles, and I did that once when I went to the interview and it took me just under an hour. I suppose I could do that with not too much bother, but I thought the M25 might be slighter quicker.

So is the M25 just really slow on a morning then? I only ever go on it every now and again when I'm going back up north to visit family.

    Thanks for the reply.

Just commute few days and check yourself. At peak hours, M25 is pretty much stop start.
But just 4 junctions should not be too bad.

It's Britain's biggest car park. During the day it's not that bad, you might average 30-40mph, late at night (after about 9pm) you'd probably get up to 70-80mph.

Morning and afternoon rush hour, you're lucky to average 10mph.

A friend of mine commutes from Jcn 8 of the M1 to Jcn 13 of the M25 every day and it takes him about an hour and a half each way on a good day.

It really depends on what time you plan to join the motorway and what time you need to be at work.

For instance, I live in Maidstone and once a month need to be in Slough for 9am. If I join the M25 at J5 before 6.30am I can comfortably make it on time. If I join sometimes 5 minutes later it can make or break the journey. Monday mornings are the worst, as are Friday evenings.

    I assume you mean M25 from junc 9 to 15, then M4 Junc 4b to 4.

That is a terrible journey in rush hour.

As said, at least two hours. lots of traffic joining M25 from A3 and M3.
