Rejected for the GE credit card?

Options
Has anyone else been rejected for the 0% 12 month deal? I've checked my credit reports and everything looks fine. The only thing I can think of is there is quite a bit of available credit on there but other than that no defaults or anything. My earnings are very healthy too. They will write and tell me but if anyone else kinows why they would reject me please let me know as I need to switch cards urgently and this seems the best deal on my debt.

  • i wont be able to tell you the reason you were turned down, but i did read that GE scores very harshly (if thats a word)
  • I too was rejected for this card. I do have a few credit cards with quite a large amount of credit available.
  • same for me, rejected.
  • Rejected too! Guessed it was down to the fact i had a reasonably high level of available credit and that I am a stoozer!!

I believe they are cherry picking the people they want on the card.

It wouldnt suprise me if they were only going for people who, on looking at the card, went rate tarts.

It will also be worth getting rid of any extra credit that you dont need in order to 'tidy' up your finances as it were.

I was turned down the the 3% moneyback card but got the Asda card. Both run by GE. As others say, some "score" more harshly.

I had a look at there application details today and saw a statment indicating they don't look favorably upon 18-24 year olds.

Statement at bottom of their website says:

Credit subject status to UK residents aged 18 or 24 years depending on products. Credit is provided by GE Capital Bank Limited, GE Money Secured Loans Limited and GE Money Home Finance Limited. GE Money is a trading name of GE Capital Bank Ltd and trademark of the General Electric Company.

Aren't some store cards all part of the GE captial group? I remember having a Burtons card 10-15 yrs ago, and I'm sure they were GE capital.

Anyway, guess i'm one of the lucky ones, with the 3% cashback card - excellent! Makes me feel good even when paying 96.9p for diesel! Not really had much credit card history, certainly no debts from them, as I always pay off each month. Reasonable wage. So I guess they were happy with me.
