My New Composter
Hey yesterday I bought a 300ltr composter from my Local Council for £10 the Lady I spoke to asked me how many I wanted I said I only have 1 garden so one please but later on I was thinking wether I should have had 2 so as I am using out of one the other one is being filled with waste what do you guys who already Have and using one think about that. I have never had a composter before so I don't realy know much about them and how they work. I have a very small slabbed garden and will only be using the compost for my greenhouse and outside pots. Any Advice Appreciated I also read that people buy worms to go in the composter what happens to them after they have munched their way through the waste. God Rest Their Souls
The solving of a problem lies in finding the solvers.

If you have room, I would have two (at least
).
Fill one up, it will take a while as the level goes down a the green and brown waste becomes compost. Leave this one and begin to fill up the second.
I have never managed to get a decent amount of compost out of the silly hatches at the bottom of the daleks so I just lift of the bin from the compost when it is ready.
If there is some uncomposted stuff at the top of the pile, just lift that to one side with a fork. If you don't use all the compost, put it in plastic sacks to keep.
Replace the bin, put the uncomposted stuff in to begin the next lot and start all over again.
The worms will just arrive from the ground, and will leave the same way if they think there isn't enough to eat:)
You might have been reading about wormeries which are slightly different as they are completely enclosed.
I find composting becomes almost an obsession and everything organic is chucked in. A girl can never have enough compost you know!!
Doh!!! Just spotted that you have a slabbed garden. Can you lift a slab underneath the bin to gain access to the soil? Are there gaps between the slabs? If not, you might find a bucket full of soil will help with microbes to begin the composting process. You can buy Garotta (helps composting) and of course, there is always liquid gold.0 -
