Travelodge website error

Hi all,
i don't know if anyone had a similar problem but i would appreciate any help as I am very annoyed with the Travelodge Customer Services team. My problem is that i tried to book a room for September at a hotel in Nottigham. I was looking at one in the city and then i found a cheaper one near the motorway which was good enough for me. I had problems booking the one i wanted as the site was constantly taking me to the previous hotel without any particular reason. When i finaly got to the one i wanted i continued with my booking and it was going well so I entered my credit card details, ONCE ONLY, in the field provided. When i pressed CONFIRM it did confirm my booking but for the previous hotel, which was a bit more expensive, not the one i wanted. As the difference in price wasn't great and the hotel location was good i decided to leave it that way as Travelodge has no contact number to discuss issues, you can do it only via e-mail. Twenty days later i received a letter from my bank saying that i was overdrawn when i wasn't supposed to be as i knew exactly how much i had in the account and how much i have spent. When i checked the account i found out that Travelodge has charged me twice and have booked two separate rooms for me in two different transactions, approximately 15-20 minutes apart. I have writen three times explaining that they have done a double booking and this is not my fault, however they do not want to refund the money for the second room as they say their site is reliable (I definately don't agree with that). Is there anything i can do as i found it very unfair and i feel like i have been cheated. Thanks in advance.

On the website, it gives you a chance to cancel the booking under the 'ALREADY BOOKED' tab? Have you tried this? If not, ring the headoffice on 01844 358500 or 0871 984 8484.

Do a search - your not the first person to have this trouble - its common. Maybe by showing them previous cases you can persuade them their site isn't as reliable / easy to use as they say it is.0
