hi, im claiming working tax credits for the first time and i live with my partner.
only problem is that she signs on but doesn't receive any money as we live together, i have spoken to various people at the tax office and have been told different stories. one says i should say she signs on the other said i shouldn't.
i have been on the calculator and there is a difference of £45 pw.
what is the correct way to go about this?? any help is welcome!

I think you have to claim working taxcredit as a couple and if you have children child taxcredit aswell. As long as one of you are working none of u need to sign on0

Can you be a little more clear with your question?0

Do you have children - is it Child tax credits you get?
If your household income is too high for your partner to be entitled to JSA income then she will still be getting NI contributions paid while she signs on so in this respect it is worth her while to do so (NI counts towards pension). If, however you have children under 16 and the child benefit is in her name then she will already be getting NI credits and so she will only be benefitting from any practical help the job centre give her, so she may find it's less hassle not to sign on.
It's only a game
