No offence meant but do you think that you are slightly dyselxic or anything that would warrant taking a test?
Just if you are then usually you're entitled to a free laptop from your uni, software as well.
Just incase this saves your money.
EDIT: Most people at my uni get really expensive Mac books out of it.£11,000 in 2011 = £71.740 -
Thanks so much for all your support and advice!
Another question...Any recommendo's for a budget printer to print out all those dissertations?
:A0 -
Don't just look at the price of the printer, check the price of the ink. Generally, cheap printers (especially the printer/scanner combinations) tend to be cheap but the ink is expensive.
Worst is when the ink for the printer can only be bought from the store you bought the printer from due to an exclusivity agreement.0 -

Depends on your local authority Mines really cheap wouldn't give me one.
I wouldnt bother with MACs there onky good for there fashion value which a rubbish reason to buy a laptop. I do believe that the only thing software stuff is SPSS(statistically software) is the primary use in my uni and even that's available on pc.0 -
Came across this today, very well priced at £260:

It's Argos clearance, not eBay.0 -
PG student here. Echoing the opinions above, definately go for a laptop - PC is way too much hassle to pack up and move, and you can't browse the internet in bed, on the sofa... etc etc
Mac's are nice, the hardware has a real quality factor, however you do pay way over the odds and if you come from a windows background you will probably get annoyed with OSX anyway.
I personally recommend Samsung laptops, they are more expensive than Dells/HPs etc, but I think you get better value for your money. Either way do your research, I looked at trustedreviews.com.
Regarding printers, honestly I wouldn't bother in your first year. Often you'll get free credit for the uni printers, and you'll be in school often enough to get by. Even if you don't get free credit the cost of running a printer pretty much outweighs topping up (especially if you're nice to friends!). Paper runs out pretty quick around hand-ins though so its always worth having your own.0 -
Get laser printer for cheap black and white printouts. You pay a bit more upfront but you'll soon get it back with the cost of new inkjet cartridges.
My uni you don't get any free credits and at 5p a a4 print its pretty damm expensive0 -
Thanks so much for all the great advice! It's great to hear what you think because it's very useful! :T0
