OK Chaps,

Work were selling a car far too cheaply and it would have been rude not to buy it!! So I paid £1800 (plus RFL) for a car that can retail at £4000+.

So I am sticking it on Ebay tonight with no reserve etc etc.

I reckon it will fetch in the region of £3200 - 3500

So after it's sold delivered I NEED a car that is suitable for a family. Does anyone here have any experience of the following:

Meriva 1.3 CDTi
Scenic 1.5 106 Dynamique
C-Max 1.6 CDTi

Do the panel have any thoughts?

Ta

Maybe inform HMRC that you bought something to sell for profit...?

I would try to get a bigger engine. In those cars 1.6/1.4 even with a are a bit gutless.

Cars are excluded from capital gains tax.

Not if you buy it to specifically make profit.

OP, have you wondered why the car you bought was so cheap? What make/model was it, and how many mlles were on the clock?

The Meriva is a good practical car. However, I've driven a 1.3 Diesel and it was a bit "gutless". The 1.7 Diesel is a better option.
If you consider one do search around for common (expensive) faults first though.
I've driven a C Max and didn't like it, that's a personal opinion. In spite of that seems a good car.
Scenic, no idea, I'd have a problem with that as it's modern French!
