Hello
I am after some advice for my mum. She joined here ages ago, as I advised her to, but she can't remember her password or user name so I said I'd ask for her.
She wants a good digital camera for about £60-£70 (or cheaper if it's a good camera).
She wants it to take good photos (obviously) and be fairly small so she can easily carry it around on holiday. She doesn't want it to be difficult to use or have really small fiddly buttons. She can get vouchers for Argos or Currys so she would like to be from one of those shops.
We have had a quick look on the Argos website but there are so many to choose from that we would like some recommendations to narrow the choice down.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

This is probably the cheapest 'decent' camera at Argos - the Canon A480:

Looks like its buttons are a bit bigger than other cameras
From Currys.. take a look at the Nikon Coolpix L22, it's also got bigger buttons, a good review and it's from a 'big' camera manufcaturer.

Of the two, i'd probably go for the Nikon0 -
We bought the Samsung ES60 a month or 2 ago from Argos: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5593172/Trail/searchtext%3EES60.htm It's a great camera and a vast improvement over the Fujifilm one we had.
It's £99.99 at the moment so a bit over your price range, but I'm sure we paid £70 for it so keep an eye out for any offers. Otherwise the Canon above looks a good choice and would have been the one we had bought if the Samsung hadn't been on sale.0 -
I was looking for a similar camera last month and went for the Fuji J30 over the Nikon L22. The Nikon was a little bulkier due to it's use of 2 AA batteries. The J30 seems alot slimmer. It's easy to use, good battery life and you should be able to find it within budget if you look around. I went for the blue one because it was cheaper than the black one. Overall I'm really pleased with it.0

The Canon A480 is an excellent camera, can be picked up on eBay from Canon Outlet for around £40 'refurbished'.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

I can add my recommendation to those advocating the Canon Powershot A480. Great small camera, easy to use and produces fantastic photos. Top value for money. I believe there is now an A490 and A495 but have not read any reviews of those. Happy hunting.0

The Canon PowerShot A480 is a good choice for you because it's both simple and fairly easy to operate and good value for money. I have family members who also have various models in the PowerShot series of digital cameras from Canon and they are generally well built and good quality.
It looks like Argos has a further £10 saving off it's advertised price of £69.99 so you can get this for £59.99 at the moment under the special offer:

It's a 10 megapixel camera that is stylish and small and uses standard AA batteries which I think is a good point in this case.Shin: a device for finding furniture in the dark.0
