Travel insurance?

I am bogged down with all the intricies of travel insurance!!!

I am going for a gap year trip to Zimbabwe and South Africa, possibly venturing into Botswana,Mozambique, Namibia and Zambia (all neighbouring countries).

I just want an insurance mainly for medical purposes, as it is too expensive for medical treatment in those countries if something goes wrong!

I am not too fussed about these cancellation and baggage insurances, although if they do come as a bundle, obviously it is better to have than not to have it, especially with this volcano keeping erupting!

Can anyone recommend me a cheap, good service that would cover me for what I need?

For helping me out, I would happily click on a referral link so you get a comission for my purchase! If this is allowed under the forum rules?!?

Thanks a lot, :T

Hi, I recently purchased an annual family insurance (with PEMC) from the AA (having got many quotes) but did not have to use them for my recent trip thankfully.

When I called them for a quote, they deducted 10% straight away for purchasing it immediately, which I did not do, but asked them to email the quote.
I went back to them after a few days and mentioned the quote and they still gave me the same discount. I found their cover quite good.

    Hope this helps.

Bear in mind the amount of time they will cover you for, standard travel policies often limit the length of any one trip, or total in one year.

Maybe you are looking for the wrong thing - remember you want a single trip policy rather than an annual one which as said above has limits to the length of trip

    Try

http://www.statravel.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/uk_division_web_live/hs.xsl/travel-insurance.htm for starters - they cover up to 24 months. The vast majority of insurers won't

If medical treatment is expensive where you are going the policy will be expensive - no getting away from that.
