I have grown a couple of pea and french been plants indoors. They are all about 1 foot high. I planted them out today in the garden with plastic milk bottles over them for some protection. I thought they would be ok as a couple of the peas i planted directly in the ground is growing fine.

My mum says i planted them out to soon, do you think they will be ok? What can i do?
I would hate to see them go to waste after spending so long caring for them?

I also have a couple of smaller bean plants in my plastic greenhouse. should i still be bringing these in at night?

Peas should be fine unless you get a really brutal frost which isn't likely at this time of year for most of the uk. I've had some in since late march that where started indoors and there now about 16" high, they got a slight touch of frost not long after they went out but have been growing strong since.

Peas are fine. It's still a bit too early for french beans, they like warm temperatures, but again, depends on where you are in the country.

My beans have been out for a while, they seem to be fine and are growing well. They are in a sheltered spot and if it gets too cold I cover them with fleece (although getting a little difficut as they are getting too big!). If they are covered to protect from frost they should be ok.

Agree with above. Our peas are growing fine but runner beans still in mini greenhouse. I will plant them out soon as running out of space but will cover them with fleece for the first week or so.

IM on my 3rd time round planting my french beans out, frost and cold they hate and die. I tried and covered them over. But now planting more in my window and should be ready for a few weeks time when its warmer.
