this is when i need to be religious to try and save some money
(but not even been christened so not an option! lol) do you not need some protection from the elements in your backgarden. we had been thinking about using ours but we are in a rented house (been here years) and so worried that wed plan it send the invites out and then have to move out or something horrific like that - you only get two months notice. so just too much stress worrying about what if's!

we will have a wooden lean to construction thing that OH is putting together...he gets free wood from work...and 2 aunties have gazebos we can borrow so plenty of protection...we also have a huge roll of tarpaulin to put down if it rains...and if its hot the kids can turn it into a slip and slide lol.
so its all very MSEwe even have an extra fridge so we can put that in the shed so people can put their drinks in. no traipsing through the house lol.

Absolutely - my friends spent much less than that for a beautiful wedding, including a free bar!
The key is just to manage it like any other party... shop around for venues (many, many decent function rooms are available for free), sort out your own buffet food if you need to, have someone make the dresses... my friends hired a room where they could bring in cheap kegs of beer, but if you're in a bar you might have to live without those.
Close friends and family will be happy to help out too - take turns running the bar, do a bit of DJing / performing, set out the buffet - makes them even more a part of your special day. And it can be surprising what quirky things get volunteered! Like a bit of magic, or face-painting for the kids.Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0
