I know what you mean - madness! here's a nice low rate and BTW we are adding a massive fee as well. LOL. It might work for a HUGE mortgage, but thats about it!

  • Not really surprising through given Halifax's new stance on client retention - they've been subsidising their new borrower rates for ages using the profits made from the 20-odd % of their customer bank who were on SVR. Now that they're offering their new r/m rates to exisitng clients at the end of their deal, they need to find a new income stream, and this is it! I think the most interesting element of the new product range is the reduction in ther 'refinance' rates, as the main criticism of their retention stance since launch has been the uncompetitive r/m rates they had on offer. This is what happens when lenders are 'fair' to customers - their profit has to maintained and come from somewhere. Expect similar up-front fee increases when lenders start reducing their deeds release and sealing fees.....

  • sorry if I am being dense but the 2 Year Refinance rates with fees (£125,001-£250,000 & £250,000+ range)reduced by 0.25% now at 4.89% & 4.79%

are these £1499 fee as well or are they a completely seperate deal?
  • Can anyone answer above question please?

I cant see them on their website so they might be broker only products.
  • No I cant see them either thats why I am so confused! I am with halifax at the mo and about the change lenders which will cost me £1000 in fees etc so if that is an offer for exsisting customers I would do that

I am in exactly the sme situation as you Meg Moo. I too would prefer to stay with Halifax but am bascially being forced to move as their rates are so high. I rang them immediately I saw this post - and they advised me that no new products for existing customers have been launched. guess Ill be waving goodbye shortly.....
