British gas grrrrr !!

:mad: I just hate British Gas, ive had run in after run in with them, just today had my first bill of the year jan-mar and they reckon this year i have consumed 671 kw more than last year which is a mystery to me my bill is £206 which is a pee take.. :mad: if i have done nothing any different from last year and have been careful with my heating etc, apart from smashing up my meter which i am thinking of doing how can i get them to check the meter?

Is your bill an estimate or based on a reading.
Was the previous bill an estimate and you are now catching up?
BTW It was a cold winter this year.

671kWh is only about £25, not much of an increase considering the cold winter.

Are the meter readings correct and actual? (both start & finish).
They bill you based on what the meter says, not what you think you've consumed or what you think you should pay.

If you really do think the meter is faulty, kick up a big enough fuss and they'll probably check it for you for about £70.
Would be a waste of £70 imo though.

Your post is a p take, yes? It is "a mystery to me" that "I have consumed 671 [kWh] more than last year" when "I have done nothing any different from last year". I think any sensible person would be rather cheered discovering that the coldest winter for thirty years has only cost them an extra twenty pounds over a quarter.
