Hello
Looking for some help as well and truly stuck and not sure whats going on
Recently had annoying antivirus soft trojan thing, which I sucessfully removed using the guide from bleeping computer.com
One of the annoying things it does is stop you connecting to the net to download help etc.
So according to bc.com, I started in safe mode with networking and altered the lan setting. However, didnt work and I still couldn't get online. In the end, downloaded the removal bits from another pc. Hijack this log didn't show up the virus at all, it was removed with malware bytes programme.
Anyway all removed, and sorted, yet I still cannot connect to the net: I have the super fast virgin wireless, its coming up local access only and basically my laptop will not connect to the internet.
Its driving me bananas!
I can't seem to find any help with this, and there are no local problems with Virgin either. Not had any problems with the wireless at all, just seems a bit of coincidence that this has coincided with the virus. I work from home a lot and this is really going to mess my week up

So its only an ethernet wired connection thats not working?
Use your other computer and download HostsXpert
http://download.softpedia.com/dl/a688cad746f64494e3ba8aee103f97e4/4b3ceb67/100027041/software/system/HostsXpert.zip
and then follow the below steps.
* Unzip HostsXpert.zip
* It will create a folder named HostsXpert in whatever folder you extract it to.
* Run HostsXpert.exe by double clicking on it.
* click the Make Writeable? button.
* click Restore Microsoft's Hosts File and then click OK.
* Click the X to exit the program
........................................................................
Reset internet explorer
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Under Reset Internet Explorer Settings, click Reset.
Does the net work now? If not download FIREFOX and use that for now

Open malwarebyets, goto LOGS and post the WHOLE of the log that was created:idea:0 -

No worries
Id advise you open malwarebytes, goto LOGS and post the WHOLE of the log though
Then ~
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD THIS VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/2894/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log):idea:0 -
