where i work has gone into an iva and as a result im being made redundant. my colleague has told me cos i dont have a contract im not entitled to redundancy pay. i know this is wrong but think they are just trying to get away with not paying me. also do i have to work my notice if my boss gives it to me next week. does being in an iva make a difference to what i should be paid. i ama single mom of 2 boys so am worried about finances etc and only want what is due to me. i have worked for the company for 2 and a half years, 16 hours per week.
any advice much appreciated.

irrespective of whether you have a contract or not, you have a right to redundancy pay once you have completed two years service. The amount is likely to be based on your weekly income - unless it is more than £380 per week.
If you are over 21 and under 41 this will be 1 week for each completed week of service so it will therefore be 2 weeks' money - tax free. In addition you will get a minimum of 2 weeks notice plus any outstanding holiday pay.
Your boss can require you to work your notice.0
