Help! Insect bites

Ohh babe, many sorries sending your way.:kisses3:
I know how you feel I am a veritable banquet to our insect pals.
First, eat lot's of garlic, the wee b*ggers hate it, secondly when working in the garden burn anything and chuck in some citronella oil. It really works, and I should know, being in Scotland, where the dreaded midge can floor warriors. I am prone to light some barbecue coals while working in the garden and here and there chucking anything aromatic on the pile. Hope this helps."To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill" Sun Tzu0 -

I bought a couple and have found them amazing! As you wear the cloth around your shoulders they literally scatter
A friend has just bought one yesterday at a reduced price, but not as cheap as £1 though. I can well recommend them. Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker

You could google "Grow your own drugs" from the shows which have been on TV lately, the chappie on there was making an insect repellant out of some plant or other. He says all his receipes from his series are on the BBC website.0

When we were working clearing undergrowth in Snowdonia the only thing we found that scared off the critters up there was aerosol fly killer (stuff you spray into a room to knock them all down) sprayed on our working clothes. Whether it killed them or detered them I've no idea but we never got bitten once we started with that. Whether its a particularly wise thing to do however I'm not sure - we were young and stupid at the time!Adventure before Dementia!0

Avon skin So soft is supposed to be very good, apparently some troops in Iraq use it

Absolutely back this up - Midges, mossies etc etc are attracted to me big time - I play a lot of golf and always got bitten/stung loads of times every summer but no more thanks to Skin So Soft.
It's excellent but you must get the citronella one - I get mine cheap from flea-bay !!Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -
I use aloe vera gel from my aloe plants...once you have one, they keep on having babies and you'll soon be giving them away. The gel scraped out from the inside of the leaves always soothes insect bites when I get them. Unless it's a really nasty mosquito (these just seem to be getting bigger....perhaps it's because our village is by the river) when I often have to resort to going out & buying some anti-histamine cream.2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (5/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg0 -
I use neat citronella oil (one drop) rubbed on exposed parts when out horseriding etc.
The Avon So Soft is supposed to be v good too (relatives in Scotland swear by it).
I get Other Half to lick my bites, apparently it's better if someone else licks the bites. It really REALLY does work, bizarre but true.0
