Resolution changed on PC, but only on two sites, strange?

Options
I have a HP All In One PC now running W7, upgraded to W7 last week with no issues (clean install) and set the resolution to 1280 x 960 so it was comfortable to read.

Yesterday, the two sites I use the most both changed, or seemed to change.
The first is a forum, it still fills the page but the text is now a lot smaller, just as if the screen resolution had been changed. It hasn`t, I checked.

The second is a training site where I watch videos, it used to be one of those that was in the centre of the page but with a white strip down either side, since yesterday it seems to have shrunk it now fills about the centre 4 inches of the screen (22 inch screen), the text is now impossible to read. If I can click on a video it opens, but at about half the size it was before, but if I go to full screen I can watch them in full screen as before, so they are working, it is just how the site is being displayed for some reason.

Looked at other forums I use and they have not changed, seems strange that the two sites I visit most are the only ones (so far) that are affected.

There is no connection between the two sites so don`t see it could be there end.

Any ideas?

Thanks

No... you set it to the recommend or THE SCREEN itself. Screen's are made to a resolution, you do not choose one. Set to that and the image overall quality ill improves dramatically.

There are other ways to increase text size.
Try resetting the web page to "normal" ( Ctrl + 0 ) (zero)

Thanks for that, CTRL + 0 has re-set those two sites, but I am now confused by a) why they changed on their own and b) what you mean by having to leave the resolution as it was originally.

Depending on eysight and distance, I always assumed you used screen resolution to make it comfortable to use the screen. Can you explain please?

    Thanks

if you don't set the screen to it's native resolution, the picture will be slightly blurry and stretched (or squashed depending on the monitor).

The way I see it (Explain then) is Imagine bathroom tiles.
How many tiles in your bathroom.

    Ohh, mines a lot more.

It boils down to the size of tiles, the smaller, the more detail you can have to create a mosaic picture.

The tiles are fixed in size, yet the mosaic artwork does not match the tile dimension exactly.

(In this case the tiles are the monitors fixed, pixel pitch and the mosaic is Windows display) There is a corresponding mismatch.
