Stranraer to Isle of Man ferry when did it stop?

I was thinking of going to the Isle of Man if my holiday abroad is cancelled.
30 years ago I went to the Isle of Man on the Stranraer to Isle of Man ferry.
I got a train from Glasgow to Stranraer and walked onto the ferry.
I have just found out that there is no longer a Stranraer to Isle of Man ferry, when did it stop?
And how do I get to the Isle of Man now without flying?

Hi,
don't think that there ever was a full time IoM ferry service from Stranraer, the Waverly paddle steamer used to do a trip once or twice a year.0 -
Hi Rob,
I think I remember the ferry running, maybe a trip once a week? Can't quite remember but I don't think it has gone in the last 20 years. Can't be of anymore help than that sorry. Nowadays you would have to get across to Ireland/Northern Ireland and then go from there I think, unless you fly it, whichever would be more convenient (probably when i re-read the OP!)"Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

I can remember getting the ferry from Stranraer in 1987 to the Isle of Man and was just thinking recently that it's a shame it's stopped. It definately wasn't overnight though.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I remember going to the Isle of Man by ferry - it was for the T.T. races......many years ago !!!! However, you can go from Liverpool or Heysham.
Alternatively...Scotland has some truly
beautiful Islands and scenery:)0
