Hey guys, I'm new to the forum so please excuse me if this is in the wrong place...
I'm trying to provide proof of my step moms income for the last tax year (09/10), as we need to prove her income to support my student finance application.
The problem is that she lost her job before the end of the tax year and therefore did not recieve a P60, but recieved a P45 instead.
The student finance company will not accept the P45 as proof of the tax year total income.
So how can she prove her income for the previous tax year???
Student finance will either accept a P60, Week 53 wage slip or a letter from previous employer stating earnings (but thats the same as the flipping P45!!!!)
Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated as if I can't provide the information by next week I have to pay just under £1000 back!!
Thank you so much, Matt.

I am sure that someone will know better..... but here's my ten cents. It will depend on what happened after the end of the job (you are quite right thinking that a letter would just be the same as P45); if it ended before the end of the tax year, I guess they are interested to know the income from end of job to end of tax year. Did she then start to claim benefit? If so, the P45 (part of) should have gone to the DWP and they in turn should have supplied a P60 at the end of the tax year. There is a time limit for them being supplied so you might need to chase up with them.
If she didn't go into the benefits system, you would need to speak to the tax office (the reference will be on the P45) for how to get proof of taxable income.0
