Unsure what to do. Any help please ?

I have recently realised the value of some property and so have quite a sum to go and buy another if I can find the place that approaches my ideals. I don't really want to talk amounts because in my old-fashioned way that is vulgar but I shall certainly be spending £800k and shall still have some left over.

In the short term, because I was more concerned about security than interest, I opened a few Norther Rock accounts and also maxed up on two lots of Premium Bonds. But NR are soon to have the Government FSCS scheme withdrawn and I want to put the cash that's sitting in those accounts somewhere equally safe until I find somewhere to buy.

I need quick-ish availability and again more concerned about safety than interest. The cash was the result of 40+ years of hard work building up a business and I just can't imagine losing it. I am too old to do it all over again !

This is a genuine request for advice and I would be very grateful for any ideas.
