On Newsnight last night Hugh Hendry, hedge fund manager, was on straight talking form as usual, saying that shares in Greek, Portuguese and to some extent Spanish banks were rapidly heading into Lehmans territory and were close to insolvency.
He also said that no matter who gets into government the markets will cause their downfall within twelve months, echoing Mervyn King's comment of the next government inheriting a poison chalice.
