Faulty Sony LCD

My 40" Sony screen is faulty, still works but the picture isn't great.
I bought this from Amazon 2 years ago but didn't fill out the form for the 3 year warranty so I've not got one. I tried them a few times but they were not being very helpful so went direct to Sony.
Sony had the tv checked out and it needs a new screen at a cost of £550 plus £100 labour. They offered to pay half but I declined so they are now offering a new model, same size for £150 plus vat, does anyone think this is the best it's going to get or should I try again !

As (if you were to pursue and win a soga claim against amazon) you'd only be entitled to a repair/replacement/partial refund of the tv, the replacement MAY be good value at £150. what model do you have, and what model are they offering.
The model being the actual number, not "bravia" as some people are inclined to say when I ask that.0 -
Having dealt with Sony in the past I think that is a great offer. The new one will be much better and if we could all upgrade for £150 every couple of years we would be delighted. Enjoy your new telly0

the £150 offer sounds good
in real terms they are offering a brand new TV and saying your TV has lost £150 in value over the 2 years
i bet its more than that if you compare prices0 -
Bite their arm off...:)0

Wow that IS a good offer
ex403 has a freeview HD tuner (your old TV is just freeview), bravia engine 3 (vs 2 or possibly 1 in your old one) and built in network access, allowing you to access catchup tv through your tv.
Go for it, man!0 -
Final update is I took Sony up on their offer of a new tv for £176, tv arrived yesterday and the picture is a massive improvement on the last one with the added bonus of all the online content.
This has restored my faith in Sony as a decent brand so they haven't lost me as a customer now !0
