Unfortunately the Co-op are the same the balance and available balance are always the same for a current account. But for a credit card, your avaialble credit shows in real time and goes down immediately your card is used so cant see why they wont do this with their current account. It would save me a couple of phone calls a week.

Why not keep a running tally on a spreadsheet of what you spend/what is coming out. If you record it as you spend it you should always know how much you have to spend regardless of when it comes out of your account. Or arrange a small overdraft to cover it/keep some spare money in there.

    Hi

I use HSBC online banking regularly. I don't have a problem with having to click through to my available balance, though maybe it should probably be more obvious. I would like to be able to see what transactions make up the difference between the 2 balances. When they added Pending transactions I thought that might happen eventually, but no sign of that. As I check my account every day it is be easy enough to remember what I have used my card for and check that it correlates with the difference between my 2 balances. Most other transactions show in the pending section. All in all I think it is a good service.

Can't really comment on the charges as I haven't had an unauthorised OD.
  • hardly any companies show pending transactions, hence HSBC and Capital One are the exemptions and I really like it that they show pending transactions. Capitalone shows pending credit transactions.:j
