Nationwide incorrect address details

Nationwdie building society have succeeded in cocking up my address change when I moved home. despite changing it early they have my address listed at the correct street but wrong flat number. depite several phone calls and visits to the branch, the situation does not appear to have been rectified.
We have been trying to have a new card issued since December last year, we still do not have it. We only realised they had the wrong address for us when we called to query where the new card was. This resulted in Nationwide blocking access to my account.
After months of problems they seem now to have the correct address in their system, however this seems to have impacted on other companies address details.
I was wondering if anyone knew if nationwide passed on address details to any other companies i.e. experian?
I think I will need to get the financial ombudsman in the sort of this awful mess. If anyone knows anything about address details then please help!

    Why not write to Nationwide asking them get in touch with all the other organisations that they have given your wrong address to, and give them the correct information?

    I think you will find that the financial ombudsman will not be at all interested until you have exhausted Nationwide's complains process. Even then, I imagine the financial ombudsman will not "sort out this awful mess". All they can do is tell Nationwide to get it right.

    Nationwide are hopeless with this sort of thing. I've recently found out that they have my date of birth wrong on my current account. (Glad to know they take the money laundering regulations so seriously.) I only found out because I tried to pay for something online using my debit card and it took me to that Verified by Visa thing that pops up sometimes. I couldn't complete the order because it kept saying I was entering the wrong date of birth. When I rang Nationwide they said I have to take my driving licence or passport into the branch to get it changed (despite me having given them my driving licence when I opened the account). I won't be able to do this for a while because of work commitments etc so I had a bit of a grumble about the fact that I can't use my debit card online in the meantime. The guy from Nationwide told me what the incorrect date of birth they have on file for me is and just said I should use this on the verified by visa page for now. Not convinced this is strictly legal but he didn't seem bothered.

    i think I have exhausted the complaints process. it has been two months and the west of scotland manager is now involved.
    I was doing some research and I think I will contact the Information Commission. I am not sure if it is Nationwide who have given out the wrong address to other companies. If they haven't then there must be a reason for it. I refuse to believe that 5 companies have got our address wrong, and they have all put the same incorrect address. i am starting to wonder if they all use the same software and my address isnt included on it. I've also ordered my credit report to see if there has been any impact on that.
    The saga continues....

    Look at your credit report- it will most likely show up as an linked address but i'm sure you can go into branch and change the address as long as you provide proof...
