But just in the short term!

Tony Filice, South Wales spokesman for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) said he thought market confidence in Wales was “on the road to recovery”.
“There is optimism that in Wales we can keep the prices at the 2007 levels in the short term,” he said.

Do we care?
I don't know of any members who live in S Wales, though I might be wrong...
As we're on areas, mine is down by 2.5% over the last 6 months...0 -
No need yet then for Aberdeen to relocate somewhere else.

Yes.
I like to hear of situations from all over the UK and not just my own little bubble as i think it's all relevant as a UK citizen.
It just comes over as a bit rude that you don't GAF about anyone else as long as your ok, that's all.
Edit: Mine is up 3.2% annual to the end of last year :beer:0 -
RICS are hardly a dispassionate observer of the housing market. When was the last time an estate agent told people it was a bad time to buy a house?0

Wales needs to get out of 2005, before anyone starts worrying about trying to stay in 2007...

Not having a pop at anyone on this thread but I'd have hoped the lesson of Thursday May 6th would have shown the folly -- a folly that isn't displayed here, so please don't think I'm implying that! -- of looking at national stats as if they're a definitive guide.
The election saw a kind of community-by-community vote where what happened in one had no bearing on what happened in another. So, too, with the UK housing market: there've been, and still are, posts on MSE bonkers enough to celebrate a "resurgence" on the basis of stats that have been averaged and aggregated yet if broken into their component parts would show that, as with the Election voting pattern, those components don't all behave the same.
And yes, in my area, prices are down and still dropping. Wonderful to see all the daft EAs plastering their newspaper ads with little stickers: NEW PRICE. So, er, that would be an increase, would it? :rotfl:

I only know about smallholdings, especially in West Wales, and these are certainly not back to 2007 levels, yet.
...Oh, except for one. Went on in 2006 at £440k. Still on today at £440k.
Now there's consistent for you!;)0
