Superglue on Paintwork

I've just got a new motorbike and whilst my brother was fitting the heated grips, some of the superglue ended up on the fuel tank.

Does anyone know how to get it off? There's not much, but it has smudged and looks a mess.

I'm a bit warey of using nail polish remover as I don't want to harm the paint work. My Dad thinks I should just leave it and it'll come off on its own in time but I'd like a quicker solution if possible.

You can often get superglue off with plenty of warm to hot soapy water.

The best thing for removing superglue is Acetone - I'm not sure how this will affect your paintwork though so be very careful and test it on a non obvious area first.

The most effective stuff I've found is the liquid my girlfriend uses to remove her false nails - you can buy this from Boots for a few quid - its called Get em off nail remover and it seems to work even better than Superglue De-bonder sold in DIY shops.

As said above nail polish remover will also work but not as well as the other stuff in my experience.

Whatever you use just soak a piece of cotton wool with our chosen liquid and gently rub it over the dried glue until it comes off.

Very good advice, I reckon any solvent is going to damage the paintwork.

You can buy a specific superglue remover, I always kept it at work for when some dork glued his fingers together:D
Don't recall the make-up and never tried it on painted surfaces, as said try it with care. ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
