What does annoy me is when vegetarians force children to be like them and do not give them freedom of choice

I used to work with a woman who fed her great dane a veggie diet. It was the size of a donkey, but it was the saddest looking dog I've ever seen.

Mankind is a natural omnivour but although he can survive on plants alone he cannot survive on animal products alone. This is scientific fact, you cannot argue this.

I bet the Eskimos can argue with it, they have been living on animal products alone for thousands of years.

Hehehe my own fault, I knew someone would pick up on some minor race that has adapted away from the norm. :D

Yeah, but the point is, they adapted. It's not that hard to do either, in the 30's two men took part in a clinical experiment where they ate nothing but meat for over a year. It only took a couple of weeks for their bodies to adjust and after that they were fine.

What scientific proof is there that man can't live on just animal products, apart from some scientist thinking it can't be done?

Crikey.., just found this thread and read that.., my OH thought I was mad cause i was laughing so hard i was crying.., and had to point the lines out to him as i couldn't manage to read them lol.

OK, sanity rules (sometimes). I used to shop regularly at Asda but due to a fall in income, and lack of access to a car (Asda is miles away) I started using our local FarmFoods and Nettos. Both great shops.., but as always u have to choose what u buy. I thank goodness for the milk at FarmFoods (£1.50 for 2x2litres) where as my local Sainsbury's charges that for 1x2litres). My son could not live without coke.., won't drink own brand, so I compromise by buying pepsi at 79p for 2litres there. The Heinz baked beans and spaghetti are generally less expensive than anywhere else too. From Nettos I buy lean steak mince (less fatty than the ordinary mince) for £3.80 for 2 I think. The smoked bacon is brilliant, large packets and doesn't come in paper thin rashers like most shops rashers and costs £2.79. I make lots of chilli, burgers etc, so buy large economy packs of peppers, and lots of veg cheaper than other supermarkets (onions 89p etc). I have a Somerfields/Co-op close but I tend to go there after 3pm to pick up things they are selling cheap. Fruit I buy as much as I can afford. My younger son would live off it lol.

I do go to Sainsbury's but only when I am dying for some of their jam doughnuts. The only processed food we eat is pizzas (used to make my own but it cost twice the amount, if not more so had to stop with a limited budget but the home made tomatoe base was the best ever lol just expensive to make). When I can get there I buy joints from a market store that sells them for half the price they are in the shops. I grow some veg and lots of lettuce (would live off it).

I also am aware a lot of what I buy is not ethical.., and when I can afford it I go to a Farm Shop with butcher and yes the meat is better., but its also four times the price.

All I will say is I am quite shocked at Asda prices nowadays on the odd occasion I go there. We also have an Aldi's in reach now as well .., and I am very grateful for these type of shops as it makes it a little easier making the budget spread as far as I can (my older son has ASD so its impossible to get him to eat anything but certain things).

I probably spend £60 a week on shopping for all four of us. If I visit just Netto's and Farmfoods I could manage, but the menu would be more limited than I'd like lol.

My best source of food shopping for top ups is our local Co-op. I go in after 2pm to check out reductions at 50% and otfen get bread and chicken, lamb, kebabs (the healthly bbq ones), pizzas and the like very cheap. Sometimes salad and tomotoes and ham too. I also pop in around 6pm to get the same at 75% off. I have had LOADS on a regular basis this way. I never buy bread at full price. We make our own but I buy it at 75% off reguarly.
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Sorry to be picky but traditional inuit diets can compromise a very small percentage of plant stuffs.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inuit_diet

I recently went on a course about cholesterol and the lecturer told us that a cholesterol level of 12 would be considered normal for an Inuit whereas 5 or belows considered normal lin the UK.

My main point was not the adaption but the fact that the human body is designed to be an omnivor 2 examples being the dental layout and the 3rd stage digestive system.
