I am at last looking for a telly (for the World Cup, Tour de France and Formula 1), but have kept the old Panasonic 28" CRT going, because the picture is fantastic compared to most plasma/LCD sets which I have seen.
Is it possible for me to get a good LCD/plasma for under £600 which will do the following:

Be 1080p
Be 40/42 0r 46 inch screen
Have no motion blur
Have as good a contrast/colour balance as my old Panasonic

Am I expecting too much (for the price), or is there something out there which will work?

Thanks,

Andy

Go for one with a Freesat or Freeview HD tuner.
I would look at Sony, Panasonic and Samsung.
Up to 40" 1080p is a waste of money.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Try Foehn and Hirsch - girlfriend bought one from ebuyer and it is suprisingly good for the money
Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig

The Panasonic has a 'fantastic picture' you say - if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I'm with googler, why pay £600 for something which you admit, will probably be inferior.

There are decent TVs around, and for that money.

Not really criticising, but, perhaps it would have been better to start looking earlier, I don't even know when the football is on, wouldn't even look out the window if England were playing in the street, :) but I can't imagine retailers will be dropping prices, they'll want to make the best profit from the desperate.
    Move along, nothing to see.
