Weird Virgin?

Options
After applying for a Virgin card online, my first new credit card for many years, and being accepted after also having to ring them up, I have now received (2nd class post) a written rejection.
I know my credit is OK, having checked recently, and can`t figure out where this strange reaction to my application comes from, especially as I`ve never been rejected before and hold both Barclays and Egg cards, one of which I wanted to transfer and good accounts with both Natwest and lloyds and Natwest, especially, is a very rigid credit checker.
The only reason I really bothered was to get rid of the rapidly increasing Barclaycard which I`ve held for years.
Is it early retirement ( reasonable pension)? Disability income? My total icome is quite reasonable (a lot more than some people earn normally). Or maybe the attempted ID theft which was rapidly sorted out with some stupid US loans company?
Dunno whether to bother again which means this site is wasted on me and it is such a good resource, especially to someone like me who`s always looked for the best deal wherever whether it be personally or in business.
