No longer need Tax Credits

Hi, i want to move in with someone who also works like myself but they are not happy about claiming any benefits, i am happy to tell WTC that i will no longer be needing it but worried if they start asking me the in's and out's of the person im moving in with. With our 2 salaries we could cope just fine. Any help would be appreciated, thank you in advance.

If you move in with someone else you would have to make a new joint claim and by the sound of it between you your income would be too much to get WTC anyway.0

Thanks for your reply, its only if we move in together they won't give their personal details to me to pass on to WTC and i just wanted to make sure they won't hound me for them and will just be happy that i won't be needing them any more.0

We dont claim TC and they have never contacted us to ask why so i presume....probably better sending a letter telling them that you no loner wish to claim them that would be sufficent

my partner has just moved in when i called they just closed my single claim and asked if i wanted to make a joint application n sent out the forms which i havnt sent back dont want the hassle of it for £579 a year. they asked no questions about him moving in just what date did it happen you cant do it till he has moved in though i tried 3 days before and they said i had to call back after.0

Might seem a silly question but is the person you are moving in with your other half, or is it a friend?0

TCO would only want your partners details if you were living together and wanted to continue to receive tax credits. In that situation you have to make a new joint claim as you can't have a single claim if you are living with a partner as a family unit.
If you don't want to continue receiving tax credits then it will cease completely when you tell TCO that you have moved in with your partner. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
