All Day ticket

Is there such a thing. The children love trains and i thought it might be nice to have a day out travelling between some of our local stations with breaks for lunch and perhaps a wander around the local parks. If there is such a thing as a one of day price whats it called, is it expensive. My children are all under five apart from one who has just turned 5 last week and we live in the west midlands, Thanks

I remember a couple of years ago doing this with my children, and it was a 'Waysaver' ticket or something similar, however I live in Manchester.

I think it cost about £10 and for that I could go on buses, trams and trains within the Lancashire region all day.

Best to phone your local railway and ask ... and pack lots of butties!

I bought a family rail pass (Prima had a free one a while ago which I used then we bought a 1 year card) and travel off peak....the rates are pretty good depending on where and when you are travelling, we almost always go off peak. I haven't heard of a day time rover like the buses do but if you have any luck finding that I would be interested as well.

I don't think First Great Western cover your area but they are doing a new fare structure for offers
