laptop -black screen and won't work !!

What have i done ? it's kaput !!
My acer 5633 laptop has gone to a black screen and won't start up at all. i was doing a system restore after removing limewire from my system .I Stupidly tried a download which seemed to make some new search engines like scour and k-directory take over everytime i tried a google or yahoo search .
i now have a blank screen . i get the windows starting in safe mode message but it won't go as far as restarting
any help much appreciated

sounds like youve corrupted windows you'll need to do a full factory restore0
