Mmm, sounds like your waste pipe could be blocked somewhere.
Have you had any trouble with smelly sewage in your drains?

I don't know if there is anything you can pour down the loo that might break it up?

Drain Block - but be very very very careful - ask a plumber to do it if you are mates with any.
    Or - eat less fibre.

Yes great advice but only use a small amount not like i did use half a tub then spend the next 2 hours with a chisel trying to chip out the hard lump of caustic soda in toilet bowl oops:mad:

It does sound to me then that by the smell you hve something blocking the drain - rather than pouring bleach down your going to need to unblock your main drain as it will be backing up to the loo.

Try and find the manhole cover for your drain - possibly on your driveway, or somewhere near the road.

Remove the cover - it should just lift off on two handles either side.
See if you can see anything - and watch out for the smell.

Then your gonna need some flexible drain rods - if you don't know anyone that has some you can buy them from somewhere like https://www.screwfix.com a set is £15.

Be very careful not to push too hard incase you hit a bend you might end up cracking a pipe...

    Hope this helps...

is the pan backing up with water when you flush it?

If it is, then its a block in the drain.

If not, its probably your siphon thats on its last legs and need replaced

This happened to us earlier this year, and when we opened the man hole cover it was nearly pouring over the top yuk yuk yuk!

But we just got hold of some flexible rods and cleared it, it took a while and OH had to get in the drain - bless him.

But keep an eye on it as if it has been blocked for a while it could be backed up (we have about 5 pipes going into our drain) about two days later the toilet wouldn't flush properly again and poor OH had to go back down the drain and unblock from another angle, you do have to be a bit careful especially if the angle opints towards your house ....as we found out! Our dining room is an extension built over a man hole cover and we had a bit of a wet carpet for a while!

    Good Luck
