does anybody know what difference it will make to the CTCs? or if it will stop and be a whole new claim?
thankyou.

Without full details of family, past taxable income, ctc award etc etc it can't be calculated and even then there might be some past over- or underpayments which might affect what you'll get.

You won't have to make a new claim.

I'd suggest ringing the tax credit office to ask as they have the software so should be able to give you a guestimate over the phone

Income Support isn't taxable ... is that relevant to the OP's query ?

Would suggest an Income Support award, in itself, might not affect the CTC but the circumstances which led to the Income Support award ... employment ceasing, for example ... might affect the CTC award ? Just a guess. Best to phone, as Sueless1 suggests.

Apologies if I didn't make it clear. I meant any taxable income prior to claiming IS might make a difference to the amount of ctc they'll get now he's on IS
