    No
A TV License isn't needed for a radio.

tell the tv licensing people that you no longer have a tv too.

For years you probably will get threatening letters, inspectors at your door telling you that the have picked up tv signals radiating from your premises. Then there is the 'friendly small talk' too, making sure you do not give yourself away and the dates you say match.

The last one came aroung started as a right rude, obnoxious git. I admited to him I watched football on the previous saturday and I talked about what was on tv on Xmas day. He became really animated and alive, would not be surprised if they get a percentage of the takings. A few questions later he was deflated when he found out I watched tv at a friends, then footy in the pub.

This is the last time I let a belligerent mini Hitler in!

You only need a TV licence to watch TV as it is broadcast.

So, if you watch TV in your house or watch TV programmes on a PC as they are broadcast, you need a licence. If you only listen to radio and/or watch TV programmes that are not being broadcast live (i.e. on video or using iPlayer, etc.) you don't need a licence.

Personally I wouldn't bother telling TV Licensing that you don't have a TV. I've never told the local council that I don't have a fishing rod in case they ask why I don't have a fishing licence! You can just ignore any letters they send and tell anyone who visits that they are trespassing and should get off your land (you can even do this in a funny "Cornish farmer" type voice - they won't mind).
