Not a bad experience as such, but I ordered some perfume from their site as a present for my sons fiancee. When it didn`t arrive, I e mailed them, and they replied quickly saying Royal Mail wanted them to wait 15 working days before it could be tracked.

15 days are up, so I emailed the Perfume Emporium and they e mailed me back to tell me that Royal Mail had asked them to claim, and I could either have a refund or they would post the perfume out again. I asked them to send it out again, which they said they would.

So apart from the disappointing wait, so far so good.

There's a very long post about them on the consumer rights forum. Apparently lots of the parcels are "lost" by Royal Mail.

sorry to worry you lilaclouisa but that looks like the start of the same pattern of emails that i have been getting since my order back in Feb 2010. ask for a copy of the proof of posting/ ref number and see what reply you get- bet you get a negative response. better still ask for your money back now and see what reply you get to that. there is a huge amount of info on the web re this company and i wish i had checked them out first. in future i'l check every web company prior to buying

I have noticed it now chris h, and posted on that thread too.
  • How I wished I had looked at this Forum before ordering from this site! I am reading word for word exactly the same thing that has happened to me. I ordered from them in July 2010, and despite numerous emails when the goods failed to arrive after mysteriously being lost by the Post Office, I am still awaiting a refund some two months later, and giving up hope of ever getting my money back. Even the replies people have received from 'Chris' at The Emporium are worded the same. It's certainly taught me a lesson. Is there anything we can do to report this company as unfit to trade? I have contacted Consumer Trading, but they were of little help and told me to contact a solicitor, which will cost more money and I am loathe to spend out anymore for this company. Would welcome thoughts from anyone who has been affected.

go to the UK GOV small claims court Money Claims online. fill in the form, pay your £ 25 online and a summons will be issued to the above company. I did it and got a cheque ( which did clear ) within two weeks. include the court cost

good luck and don't accept or believe anything your told by above company

please let me know how you get on and if you need more info
  • Like others I wish I'd looked on this forum before being ripped off by this company. And today the only thing on their home page is this statement

"This store is currently closed due to maintenence. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

    I wonder why!!

  • Well, I did look at the general money saving expert site, and Perfume Emporium was recommended for cheap perfume. Unfortunately, I (and possibly others) didn't realise that this referred to the US and the UK rip-off company has nothing to do with them.

Apparently the guy running this site has made himself bankrupt. More details here
