Yeah DKLS, you can get 20 minutes in the station, the problem I was having was turning right to get out of the station now that they've closed the road behind the station by the prison (not sure what it's called) all the traffic that was going up there is now going in front of the station.

I know what you mean it isnt easy to turn right out of the station, You need to get your "london driving" head on, and force your way out.

I can't understand the problem. The OP parked their car in the car park and didn't buy a parking ticket. Whether the parked car had someone sitting in it or not is immaterial - the car is parked.

The problem is the demand for £60 from the parking company. That would be deemed as an unfair penalty by a court, because that £60 bears no relationship to the actual loss suffered by the parking company or landowner.

    Hello,

Does anyone have any advice as to what should I do if they phone me?

    Thanks,
    Steph

Just hang up. It's as simple as that. If they persist in that tactic tell them you will report them to the police for harassment.

Ok. I *hate* this feeling. I dont mind if I've done something wrong, but I didn't realise that just stopping in an empty car park was reason enough to get a 'fine'.

    You didn't get a fine.

You got a notice which is no different than a scam phishing email - would such an email worry you? No, you'd delete it and any others that followed.

So just forget about this, read the sticky 'what to expect' which shows the letter chain you will receive and then laugh and play 'snap' when each matching debt collector letter arrives. You'll miss them when they stop writing, believe me!

Did you not see Watchdog this week? They showed you just what to do with any private parking ticket threatogram letters (at last the BBC gives correct advice on this!):

You only need to take parking tickets seriously if they come from the Council or the Police.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

It's a scam. Don't let it worry you - I get email scams every day. This one is just on paper and comes through your letterbox instead.

Once again, this is not a "fine", it's an invoice. Only the courts, the council and the police can issue fines.
