i jsut spoke to a eon rep in a tesco store who done his calculations on his little machine and said i could save or would save-220 a year based on my monthly amounts

i nearly done it there and then as they were offering point aswell but decided to come home and check it out online

im glad i did coz eon direct says i can save 131 and no extra tesco point and uswitch says 160 not sure about the cc points

so was he liying to try and sign me up there and then?
i dont know who to trust to be honest

is uswtich the best ones to go by?

I would guess that you didn't have actual usage figures with you in the supermarket so it was probably based on what you are paying now, which isn;t very accurate. Your best bet would be to use actual meter readings as close to a year apart as possible, work out your annual usage in KWH and then use that on the comparison sites. Using monetary amounts, espec if you pay by dd, involves the comparisons making a lot of assumptions

How can I put this tactfully, the in-store rep only gets paid for signing people up.
They will do almost anything to get you to sign with whoever they are pimping for.
They are occasionally a stranger to the truth!!

Do you your own research, use annual Kwh figures and NOT your monthly payments to get an accurate result.

There are any number of comparison sites, U Switch, energyhelpline even switch with Which?

The guy in Tesco wouldnt have signed you up to their cheapest tariff anyway.

(their cheapest tariff is probably Fixonline V8 and you dont earn CC points with that tariff)
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

Agree. And never buy from someone who approaches you. Always approach the supplier yourself. OK you may lose Tesco points or whatever. But it is not sane to allow yourself to be ripped off for the sake of a trillion Tesco points worth 23p

and don;t forget if the comparison sites show a better deal, then clear your cookies/history and go through quidco - currently £70 cashback on eon.

    Confirmed.

I used to get TESCO ClubCard points, and then switched to FixOnline 4, and later versions, none of which give CC points.

In the end, the money for the CC points comes out of what you pay them, so all you end up doing is get some of your own money back, after they deduct some for administering the CC points.

You have never had your meter read?
All meters have to be changed from time to time typically after 10 years or so for gas.
